Dr. Brancati Wins McEllroy Award
Congratulations to Dr. Fred Brancati, who recently received the McEllroy Award from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine's Medical Alumni Association at an annual event honoring the graduating class.
During his tenure as Dean (1938-1958), Dr. William S. McEllroy transformed Pitt's School of Medicine into a world-class research institution, vigorously pursuing funding for research programs, recruiting leading scientists, establishing residency programs, and aquiring state-of-the-art facilities.
The McEllroy Award is presented annually by the Medical Alumni Association to an outstanding non-alumnus who undertook residency training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
