The Phipps Psychiatric Service
Since philanthropist Henry Phipps' endowment almost 100 years ago, the department has occupied a distinguished place in the history of psychiatry, with a continuous tradition of excellence in patient care, teaching, and research. In the US News and World Report, the Johns Hopkins Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences has consistently been ranked in the very top tier of departments of psychiatry nationally. We are also among the top departments in psychiatric research funded by the National Institutes of Health.
