Johns Hopkins Care at Home – Potomac Personal Care., a private duty agency, is a sister company to Johns Hopkins Care at Home – Potomac Home Health, and a service of Sibley Memorial and Suburban Hospitals. It is a non-profit company providing private pay services.

Johns Hopkins Care at Home – Potomac Home Health

Our program stresses personalized care, tailored to the needs of each patient. We work closely with the physician, the patient and family members to plan, review progress and make adjustments to the plan of care. This approach results in a better treatment plan and greater understanding and support for patients and family members.

Johns Hopkins Care at Home – Potomac Personal Care provides your loved ones with personal attention and care at home or in the hospital. Our well-trained and experienced personnel are bonded and insured and are supervised by a licensed nurse.

Johns Hopkins Care at Home – Potomac Personal Care Services

Johns Hopkins Care at Home – Potomac Personal Care services are offered 24 hours a day/7 days a week, and include:

  • Licensed nurses
  • Home care aides
  • Sitters/companions
  • Mother’s helpers
  • Live-ins
  • Social worker available

Duties include:

  • Personal care
  • Newborn and child care
  • Overnight care
  • Meal preparation and assistance with feeding
  • Reminder to take medications
  • Assistance with bed mobility, transfers and ambulation
  • Assistance with bowel and bladder elimination
  • Accompaniment to doctor appointments
  • Light housekeeping
  • Shopping
  • Communication of changes in client condition to the office
  • Case management assessments
  • Skilled nursing care and medication administration 

The home care aide works in accordance with a written assignment prepared by a licensed nurse. The nurse makes an initial on-site visit once home care is started.

Payment Plans

Home care aide and sitter services are generally not covered by Medicare or other insurance companies. You may be asked to make an initial deposit and will be billed biweekly. You will receive an itemized bill for insurance or tax purposes. Please call for rate information.

Home health care services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross, CHAMPUS and most commercial insurance policies. We also honor private-pay. To be eligible, patients must:

  • Be confined to the home
  • Require skilled nursing or therapeutic services on an intermittent basis
  • Have a home health plan established by a physician

Contributions

Your tax-deductible contributions to Johns Hopkins Care at Home – Potomac Personal Care and Johns Hopkins Care at Home – Potomac Home Health are used to provide services to individuals who are unable to afford home health care.
