The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions are situated at two locations in East Baltimore connected by a shuttle bus service. In addition, the Johns Hopkins University system includes the Bloomberg School of Public Health adjacent to Johns Hopkins Hospital, the School of Arts and Sciences and School of Engineering located on the Homewood campus in Baltimore; Applied Physics Laboratory located in Columbia, Maryland; and the School of Advanced International Studies with locations in Washington, D.C., Bologna, Italy, and Nanjing, China.

Johns Hopkins Hospital Campus

The Johns Hopkins Hospital is a 1,000-bed community-based and tertiary referral hospital that serves as the focus for major clinical responsibilities of the Division. Contiguous with the hospital are the School of Medicine, the Bloomberg School of Public Health, the School of Nursing, and the Welch Medical Library. The campus is engaged in a massive redevelopment effort, which will bring new housing, shopping, parks, research buildings, and clinical space within walking distance to the hospital. The new Cardiovascular and Critical Care tower includes a state-of-the-art 24-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) and endoscopy suite. The Division is directly responsible for several inpatient services at the Johns Hopkins Hospital including the MICU, Progressive Care Unit, the Pulmonary Inpatient Service, critically ill patients in the Oncology Center, the Pulmonary Function/ Exercise Physiology Laboratories, and the Bronchoscopy Suite. Extensive inpatient consultative services are also provided for multiple other units. Outpatient clinics in the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center (JHOC) include Thoracic Malignancy, Cystic Fibrosis, Interstitial Lung Disease, Lung Transplantation, Neuromuscular Diseases.

Johns Hopkins Bayview Campus

Hopkins Bayview Medical Center is a 300 bed community-based hospital on the Bayview Campus. The hospital is adjacent to the Asthma and Allergy Center, which houses most of the Division’s research facilities. The Bayview Campus also serves as home to Johns Hopkins Geriatric Center and two major intramural NIH programs: the Gerontology Research Center and the National Institutes of Drug Abuse. A new NIH bioresearch facility has recently been completed on the campus. The Division is directly responsible for several inpatient services at the Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, including a MICU, a medical step-down unit, an inpatient general Pulmonary Service, and a Pulmonary Function Laboratory. The Division also co-directs a Chronic Ventilator Unit located in the Geriatrics Center.

The Asthma and Allergy Center incorporates approximately 130,000 square feet of clinical and laboratory space. General outpatient pulmonary clinics, several disease-specific specialty clinics, and one of two sleep disorders clinic are within this facility. The Asthma and Allergy Center also serves as the primary site for the Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. The Center and the Bayview Campus present unique collaboration opportunities in clinical care, teaching, and research.
