National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day 2025

This Saturday, October 25, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., residents from southeast Baltimore and the surrounding communities can dispose of unused, expired or unwanted medicines at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

As part of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, the Johns Hopkins pharmacy team will set up a drive-through, drop-off site at the Bayview Medical Offices (BMO) Building (blue awning entrance), 4940 Eastern Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21224. At this outdoor event, our on-site staff will dispose of all collected medications safely and securely, no questions asked.

The volunteer teams will collect tablets, capsules, liquids, creams, e-cigarettes, vape pens and needles for safe, environmentally friendly disposal. At the spring take-back event in April, Johns Hopkins collected 1,152 pounds of unwanted medications and 398 community members participated.

WHAT:      National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

WHERE:   Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center
Bayview Medical Offices (BMO) Building (blue awning entrance)
4940 Eastern Avenue
Baltimore, MD 21224

WHEN:     Saturday, October 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WHY: Johns Hopkins is part of the fight against the misuse of prescription medications, many of which continue to fuel the nation’s opioid epidemic. Getting unwanted drugs out of medicine cabinets and into safe, anonymous disposal mechanisms means those drugs will no longer pose a danger to anyone in the home or on the street.
