This Friday, October 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., a spelling bee will be held at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Students from a neighboring school in southeast Baltimore – John Ruhrah Elementary/Middle School – will demonstrate their knowledge and spelling skills.

Renee Blanding, M.D., vice president of medical affairs, will host this event. She has supported the educational endeavors of many John Ruhrah Elementary/Middle School students over the years through Readership to Leadership — a non-profit program she founded in 2013 that promotes literacy in Baltimore elementary schools.
