Miller-Coulson Academy Induction Set for April 17

The 2017 class of the Miller-Coulson Academy of Clinical Excellence will be inducted on Monday, April 17, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Excellence in Patient Care Symposium. The event will be held at The Johns Hopkins Hospital’s Chevy Chase Bank Auditorium in the Sheikh Zayed Tower.

The program to recognize clinical excellence began in 2006 as part of the Center for Innovative Medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. It was made possible by the support of the Miller-Coulson family. Inductees are honored for their professionalism, communication skills, diagnostic prowess, depth of knowledge, ability to negotiate the health care system, passion for patient care and service as a role model to medical trainees.

This year’s inductees are:

James H. Black III, M.D., vascular surgery and endovascular therapy

Andrea Corse, M.D., neurology and neurosurgery

Dorianne Feldman, M.D., physical medicine and rehabilitation

David Feller-Kopman, M.D., medicine, anesthesiology and critical care medicine, and otolaryngology–head and neck surgery

Julie Hoover-Fong, M.D., Ph.D., pediatrics

Sophie Lanzkron, M.D., M.H.S., hematology

Manisha J. Loss, M.D., dermatology

Sally E. Mitchell, M.D., interventional radiology

William Sharfman, M.D., oncology and dermatology

Sharon D. Solomon, M.D., ophthalmology

Matthew J. Weiss, M.D., hepatopancreatobiliary surgery

Inductees will share inspirational stories about clinical excellence, which is at the core of the Johns Hopkins mission.
