Apr. 23, 2009- Once again, the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine has retained its top-tier ranking in U.S. News & World Report’s edition on the best graduate schools in the nation.
In the 2010 report, the school ranked as it has for many years #2 among U.S. medical schools.
In addition to the overall ranking, USN&WR recognizes a number of specialty programs, a list based on results of a survey among peer institution deans and senior faculty across the country. The school continues as #1 in geriatrics, moves up to #1 for internal medicine and is ranked #2 in AIDS and #4 in drug/alcohol abuse, pediatrics and women’s health. The biomedical engineering program once again is ranked #1.
The biological sciences were last ranked in 2007, when the school placed #6 overall. In the 2007 science specialties list, Johns Hopkins was #3 in neuroscience/neurobiology, #5 in immunology/infectious disease, #7 in cell biology and #8 in genetics/genomics/bioinformatics, microbiology and molecular biology.
For this latest report, the magazine’s top medical schools overall are Harvard University, the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, Washington University in St. Louis, University of California San Francisco, Duke University, Stanford University, University of Washington, Yale University and Columbia University.
