Noteworthy Information and Events

Tobacco Credit
All staff members who passed the tobacco screening test will notice a partial credit on their paycheck dated Jan. 13, 2017. Because the tobacco credit was activated in the middle of a pay period (Dec. 25, 2016, to Jan. 7, 2017), employees will receive half of the biweekly credit. For the following pay date, Jan. 27, 2017, employees will receive the full $20 or $10.50 (for represented employees). The credit will appear on the left side of your paycheck under earnings.
Those interested in taking the tobacco screening test in 2017 (new hires and those who have not previously taken a tobacco test) may visit Tobacco Testing. For more information about the tobacco screening test and smoking cessation programs, call Healthy at Hopkins at 410-955-9538.

Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration
Save the date for the 35th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration, which will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, in Turner Auditorium on the East Baltimore campus.
“Moving Forward Together” is the theme of this year’s event. The keynote speaker is Robert Higgins, director of the Department of Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. U.S. Sen. Barbara Mikulski will also make remarks.
The eight recipients of the 2016 Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Awards will be honored at the event.
Seating for this celebration is on a first-come, first-served basis. The event will be simulcast across Johns Hopkins Medicine.
