July 9 Event for Employees to Capture Strategies for Telemedicine

Johns Hopkins Telemedicine is holding its first brainstorming session on Monday, July 9, 2018, in the Chevy Chase Bank Auditorium at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. All Johns Hopkins employees are invited to attend and share ideas on strategies for virtual care from Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Participants will hear about Johns Hopkins Medicine’s telehealth strategy, existing telemedicine programs and the capabilities in Epic to support current and future opportunities for virtual care. Afterward, a brainstorming session will cover four telemedicine topics: 1.) Creating a web portal for patients to receive urgent care video visits with on-call clinicians; 2.) Using the EpicCare Link portal to provide telemedicine services to patients in affiliate organizations such as skilled nursing facilities and health departments; 3.) Using HAL to provide video visits between Johns Hopkins clinicians, referring physicians and their inpatients, for treatment and transfer assessment; and 4.) Exploring how Epic can be used to monitor patients in the hospital for safety, triage and treatment.

Ingrid Zimmer-Galler, executive clinical director at Johns Hopkins Telemedicine and associate professor of ophthalmology, and Rebecca Canino, administrative director at Johns Hopkins Telemedicine, will kick off the event. Kip Price, product lead for Epic telehealth, will review existing and new capabilities for telemedicine in Epic. The brainstorming session will be moderated to cover the four priority topics.
