JHMI Celebrates New Suite, Services at Wilde Lake Pavilion

Johns Hopkins Radiology and Imaging leadership celebrated the expansion of the Wilde Lake Pavilion outpatient imaging site in early August.

It was a full house as Johns Hopkins Radiology leaders and staff gathered to cut the ribbon on an expansion of the department’s newest outpatient imaging site at Johns Hopkins Medical Imaging (JHMI) at Wilde Lake Pavilion.
The Wilde Lake Pavilion location first opened in November 2024, originally launching with one suite housing MRI, CT and X-ray services. Now, with the opening of a new suite right next to the first, services are expanding to include mammography, ultrasound and DEXA scans. These services will no longer be provided at the nearby JHMI at Columbia Medical Center.

The newly expanded imaging center gleamed bright and fresh, balloons and flowers decorating the carefully designed new suite, as department leadership offered remarks to a standing-room-only crowd. Among those leaders in attendance were Dr. Karen Horton, executive director of Johns Hopkins Medical Imaging; Danielle Karavedas, chief administrative officer of radiology; Peg Cooper, radiology operations administrator; Noel Foster, assistant director at Johns Hopkins Medical Imaging at Wilde Lake Pavilion; and Abigail Lodise and Patricia Spence, assistant site supervisors at Wilde Lake Pavilion, as well as assistant directors of other JHMI sites across the region.

Dr. Horton began by praising the many dedicated individuals who brought the years-long effort to fruition, including Johns Hopkins staff and building partners DPR Construction.
“It took hundreds of people thousands of hours to complete this project,” she said, adding, “When you see it all come together here – it looks spectacular.”
Next, Danielle Karavedas highlighted the benefit the expanded facility will offer to patients in the region.

“This new suite expands our mission of helping and healing patients,” she said, adding, “You can feel the warm and welcoming embrace of this gorgeous new facility.”
In her comments, Peg Cooper turned her attention to the staff at Wilde Lake Pavilion who deliver excellent patient care every day.
“The new space is beautiful, but without you it doesn’t matter,” she told the staff, adding, “I want to applaud all of you because you made it all successful.”
Finally, Noel Foster took a moment to reflect on her team’s long journey from Columbia Medical Center to Wilde Lake Pavilion.

“Today marks the closing of an extraordinary chapter and the beginning of an exciting new one,” she said.
She likened her staff to a family, noting that they have celebrated many good times together, but have also come together to face challenges like COVID and the loss of coworkers and friends. Through it all, the team has been able to rise to the challenge – together.
“Everyone here is a piece in a larger puzzle,” she said. “No one is extra, everyone plays a part.”

Even during the 18 months when the team was split between the Columbia Medical Center and Wilde Lake Pavilion sites, she noted, the puzzle remained intact.
“Today, every piece comes back together,” she said. “The puzzle is not done when the largest piece is put in; it is done when all of the pieces come together.”
She concluded, “Team, welcome home to Wilde Lake Pavilion, where every piece matters.”
Following these remarks, leadership assembled to cut the ribbon marking the official start of a new era at Johns Hopkins Medical Imaging.
