We’re delighted to announce that Lisa Steinmetz has been promoted to clinical operations manager for the Division of Infectious Diseases.
Since 2023, Steinmetz has served as ambulatory services manager for the division, leading outpatient infectious diseases clinic operations initiatives for the Rockland Practice at Green Spring Station; the John G. Bartlett Specialty Practice at The Johns Hopkins Hospital; the Transplant and Oncology Infectious Diseases Inpatient/Outpatient Program; the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Office; the Comprehensive Care Practice and the Nontuberculous Mycobacteria and Bronchiectasis Clinic at Bayview; the Pediatric Immunology Clinic; the Travel Medicine Clinic; and specialized clinics at the Baltimore City Health Department and the Baltimore County Health Department. With the integration of oversight for the division’s inpatient services, she manages clinical personnel and services across 16 service lines.
Steinmetz’s keen focus on planning, organization and evaluation to improve efficiency, drive growth and enhance patient experience is exemplary. Since her arrival in the infectious diseases division, she has worked collaboratively with clinical leadership to establish an additional inpatient service line, identify needs for provider training and optimize templates. Her efforts have maximized efficiencies and reduced billing errors, which has resulted in a 68% increase in provider charge activity, a 51% increase in clinical revenue performance, a 64% increase in closed encounters in Epic, and a 77% improvement in patient bump rate. Additionally, she transformed a manual inpatient scheduling process into one that is efficient, automated and has improved accuracy.
Steinmetz has been with Johns Hopkins Medicine since 2021. Prior to joining the infectious diseases division, she worked for the Green Spring Station Dermatology Clinic, where she managed clinical staff and grew clinical services, including adding a surgery service line. Before that, she managed a private practice for 15 years.
