Jacky Schultz Excellence in Nursing Award
Congratulations to Charlene Faku, M.S.N., R.N., director, medical surgical division, who was recognized with the 2024 Jacky Schultz Excellence in Nursing Award. This award honors a Suburban nurse who embodies the qualities of the Nursing Practice Model. It is designated to pay tribute to retired nurse Jacky Schultz’s legacy of excellence in nursing practice and to acknowledge those who follow in her footsteps.

Selected Publications and Presentations
- Margie Hackett, B.S.N., R.N.-B.C., A.C.M.-R.N., presented her poster titled “A Population Health Approach to Implementing DSMT Services in a Hospital-Based Setting” at the 2023 American Case Management Association (ACMA) National Case Management Conference in Washington, D.C.
- Vicki Yfantis, M.S.N., R.N., C.R.N.P., C.P.A.N., C.A.P.A., won third place for her poster titled “Use of Alcohol-Based Nasal Antiseptic in Reducing Surgical Site Infections in Patients Undergoing Elective High-Risk Procedures” at the 2023 OR Manager Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. The poster was also highlighted on the OR Manager website. During the conference, Vicki spoke on a panel for the session titled “PACU Managers – Let’s Tie it All Together!”
- Teresa McCamon, M.S.N., R.N., C.M.S.R.N., O.C.N., published an article titled “Risky Business. Interventions to prevent aggression against health workers from patients at risk: An integrative review” in the April 2025 Journal of Clinical Nursing.
- Elizabeth Gabriel, M.S.N., R.N., MEDSURG-B.C., NPD-B.C., and her colleagues’ article, “Best practices for implementation of Kamishibai (K) cards in the healthcare setting to improve nursing-sensitive indicator associated outcomes: An integrative review” was published in Worldviews on Evidence-Based Nursing. Elizabeth presented a poster at the 2025 NPIAP Conference demonstrating the application of the K cards in quality improvement.
