Volunteers taking calls at 2025 Radiothon event.

A chorus of ringing phones, inspirational stories and upbeat music are familiar sounds for a team of volunteers supporting the annual Mix 106.5 radiothon at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center.

The radiothon is the largest single fundraiser for the Children’s Center, and this year’s event in early March — broadcast live from the Children’s Center for 26 hours — raised $1,141,307.64, part of the more than $30 million it has generated since the event began in 1989.

The funds are used to buy lifesaving medical equipment, fuel research, develop innovative tools and programs, and provide toys, books, games and art supplies to patients to make their experience a little less challenging.

“We are so grateful for the incredible generosity of the listeners and callers, as well as Mix 106.5, our volunteers and staff who helped make this event such a success,” says Brenda Banwell, co-director and pediatrician-in-chief at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. “Our physicians and other providers and staff would not be able to offer the world- class care that we do without their support.”
