The ASCRS Hall of Fame

April 25-28 is the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS) Annual Meeting. In its 50 years, the organization has inducted many Wilmer alumni into its Ophthalmology Hall of Fame, including Frank B. Walsh, M.D. (2000), Arnall Patz, M.D. (2002), Jonas S. Friedenwald, M.D. (2004) and R. Townley Paton, M.D. (2023). Two of the awards are on display at Wilmer's Friedenwald Romano Library.

During this year's meeting, Erick Rocher, B.S., and Allen Eghrari, M.D., M.P.H., will receive the 2024 Mamalis Award for their paper, “Fluorescein-conjugated hyaluronic acid enables visualization of retained ophthalmic viscosurgical device in anterior chamber." The Mamalis Award is presented by the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery to recognize outstanding laboratory science research within the field of ophthalmology.
