Resources available through the Johns Hopkins Office of Referring Physician Services

Throughout Johns Hopkins Medicine, we've made improving service and providing prompt communication with our patients' physicians among our top priorities. Today, many aspects of communication with referring physicians are consolidated under one roof..

This office integrates:

  • the Hopkins Access Line (HAL), providing around-the-clock help for everything from consultations to patient transfers;
  • the Referring Physician Services database, enabling Hopkins to easily send to referring and personal physicians timely information about their patients;
  • and the Physician Liaison Service, helping physicians better navigate Hopkins. It also handles any problems or concerns they might have.

Services supported by the Office of Referring Physicians include:

Hopkins Access Line (HAL)

HAL is a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week physician-only line for physician-to-physician communication, as well as hospital to hospital patient transfers.
