The structural heart team consists of interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, cardiac anesthesiologists, cardiac imaging experts and advanced practice providers working together to evaluate, manage and treat valvular heart disease and other conditions. The program at Johns Hopkins is the most experienced in the region with mitral and tricuspid interventions, and is the only transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) program in the region to achieve a 3-star rating from the STS/ACC TVT registry. Through advanced techniques, the team has expanded TAVR candidacy for patients with anatomic limitations. The group conducts cutting-edge research aimed at advancing the transcatheter therapies and improving outcomes, with seven ongoing clinical trials at the end of fiscal year 2025.
