Inherited Heart Disease
The Johns Hopkins Center for Inherited Heart Diseases is a regional, national and international leader in caring for patients and families with inherited cardiac conditions. We prioritize family-centered care by bringing together adult and pediatric cardiologists with four dedicated, board-certified genetic counselors who specialize in cardiovascular genetics. Our specialty clinics address a wide range of conditions, including arrhythmia syndromes, cardiomyopathies, lipid disorders, cardiac amyloidosis, neuromuscular diseases and adult congenital heart disease. We leverage the latest genetic information to provide personalized diagnosis, risk assessment and treatment plans for each patient, supported by research that links genetic testing results with clinical outcomes.
In 2025 alone, our genetic counselors served over 1,500 families from across the region and country. Our nationally recognized genetic counselors serve on national society boards and author cardiac genetic guidelines. Our comprehensive model combines expert clinical care and genetic counseling, cutting-edge research, collaboration across departments and with national and international partners, and expanded access through telemedicine across all states of the mid-Atlantic region. Additionally, we train the next generation of cardiogenetics specialists through a structured fellowship track for providers and dedicated cardiac genetic counseling rotations for students.
