The Johns Hopkins All Children's LifeLine Critical Care Transport Team, based in St. Petersburg, Florida, provides emergency medical services through ground and air transportation. The team performs both hospital-to-hospital transfers of patients (newborns through age 21) to and from Johns Hopkins All Children's.

Johns Hopkins All Children’s LifeLine vehicles include:

  • Four critical care ambulances specially designed to decrease noise and vibration.
  • Lifeline 1, the only medical air transport EC 135 helicopter based in Pinellas County. Johns Hopkins All Children's utilizes Med-Trans Corporation, a Part 135 approved air carrier, operating under FAA certificate # M3XA227H to operate its rotor-wing aircraft. Med-Trans maintains operational control of the aircraft at all times.
  • The availability of fixed-wing aircraft, allowing the capability of state, national and international transport.

Each vehicle is equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology to meet the needs of critically ill newborns, children and older patients. In addition to the standard equipment, the LifeLine team can provide special pediatric transport technology, including the ability to provide active cooling to help prevent brain damage, as well as nitric oxide and high frequency ventilation to help with breathing.

Patients are taken to the hospital most appropriate for their needs, whether it is Johns Hopkins All Children’s in most pediatric cases or a hospital that provides adult or other specialized care.

Our Mission

Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital LifeLine is a critical care transport program dedicated to providing state of the art mobile intensive care; utilizing sound principles of transport medicine in the ground, rotor and fixed wing environment.
