Suburban Hospital has received the 2016 Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold-Plus Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for treating stroke patients.
Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke helps hospital teams provide the most up-to-date, evidence-based guidelines to speed recovery and reduce death and disability for stroke patients. Suburban’s NIH Stroke Center earned the award by meeting specific quality achievement measures for the rapid diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients. These measures include aggressive use of medications and risk-reduction therapies aimed at reducing death and disability and improving the lives of stroke patients.
“Suburban is a leader in effective stroke care and in improving the lives and outcomes of those who suffer strokes, ” said Zurab Nadareishvili, M.D., Ph.D., medical director of the Suburban NIH Stroke Program. “The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke helps us achieve that goal and their recognition of our efforts in that regard demonstrates our commitment to ensure that our patients receive the best evidence-based care.”
Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke also helps Suburban’s staff implement prevention measures, which include educating stroke patients to manage their risk factors, understanding the warning signs for stroke and ensuring they take their medications properly.
