Ultrasound

Clinical management—concentrating on privacy, comfort, safety and satisfaction—of patients seen in the Ultrasound Division/Biopsy Service. Assist with intraprocedure care during ultrasound guided biopsies including providing for pain management and emergency interventions as needed.

Patient Population
  • All ages
  • Varying acuity
  • Inpatient and outpatient
Number of Beds
  • 6
Nurse/Patient Ratio
  • 1:6
Rotation/Shifts
  • Monday-Friday; day shift 8 - 4:30
Skill Mix
  • 75% percent RN; 50 percent BSN; 25% Clinical Associate
Required Competencies:
  • Medical/surgical background;
  • IV/phlebotomy skills;
  • Aseptic technique
  • BLS, ACLS and PALS certification
Orientation
  • Complete 10-16 week regular radiology orientation with 2 weeks specifically with ultrasound nurses and technologists
