Dr. Zacur is the Theodore and Ingrid Baramki Professor and Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine within the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. A graduate of Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Dr. Zacur received his medical degree at the University of Miami School of Medicine in 1973. Over the next six years, he completed his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Johns Hopkins Hospital, while also earning a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in Reproductive Biology. He joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor in Gynecology and Obstetrics in 1980 and one year later he completed a Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Since 1984, Dr. Zacur has held a number of leadership positions in clinical and academic medicine at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. These include: Director of Reproductive Endocrinology Research Laboratories (1984-1991), Associate Professor Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics (1986-1995), Joint Appointment, Department of Population Dynamics at Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene & Public Health (1983-present), Deputy Director of Gynecology and Obstetrics (1988-1996). In 1991, Dr. Zacur assumed Directorship of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology at Johns Hopkins as well as Directorship of the Hopkins fellowship program in reproductive endocrinology and infertility.
During the past ten years Dr. Zacur has supervised the training of fifteen clinical fellows, and has maintained active programs in clinical and basic research in the areas of prolactin disorders, hormonal contraception and hormone replacement during the menopause.
Dr. Zacur has a very active clinical and surgical practice in reproductive endocrinology and infertility and his areas of special expertise include prolactin disorders, hirsutism, polycystic ovarian disease/syndrome, clinical and surgical management of leiomyomata and endometriosis, menopause and hormone replacement. Dr. Zacur also actively participates in the Division's In Vitro Fertilization Program directed by Dr. Jairo Garcia.
Dr. Zacur is a member of numerous scientific organizations including The Society for Gynecologic Investigation, The Endocrine Society, The American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and is the author of over 200 medical research articles, reviews and abstracts.
Dr. Zacur's outpatient practice is at Johns Hopkins at Green Spring Station.
