You’ve been to time management seminars and scanned worklife balance books for useful tips and techniques. Learn how some of Hopkins’ own very busy faculty have used proven strategies and developed their own techniques for achieving greater control, organization and success in our challenging work environment with its many expectations, roles and responsibilities. Come to hear tips from Drs. Fred Brancati, Janice Clements and Peter Pronovost on how to manage hundreds of daily emails, go paperless so that you never “pile or file” again, and stay focused and organized while carving out quality time for your own life, family and commitments outside of work. In this program you will learn the effect and characteristics of stress and better understand why stress is considered the “invisible”disease. You’ll identify your stressors and your personal stress reactions. You’ll increase your awareness of the mind’s role in the stress cycle, how perception, paradigms, and self-talk contribute to your stress, and how habitual thinking styles can be redirected. You’ll learn how to get rid of your worries, how to break the anger habit and how to manage physical stress through nutrition, exercise, and relaxation. You’ll use a six-step problem-solving model to take control of your stress situations, discover ways to manage change, and use goal setting to balance the demands of your career and your personal life.

Did you know that anger could have a negative effect on your career, your family, and your health? This workshop will teach you how to manage your anger and how to use those feelings constructively, rather then destructively. You will be given the tools to manage anger in your day-to-day life and you will gain a better understanding of how anger affects all areas of your life. You will learn and practice new coping skills that allow you to gain control in anger-provoking situations. In addition, several relaxation techniques will be discussed and practiced.
