Dining & Retail
A variety of on-campus dining options are available from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Our Information Desk volunteers can recommend many restaurants that are within a short driving distance of the hospital. Please feel free to call them at 301-896-3118.
Suburban Hospital offers two retail dining options for patients, family, staff and visitors. The full-service, traditional cafeteria, located on the second floor, is open weekdays for breakfast and lunch from 6:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. (it is closed between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.) The cafeteria features a fresh salad bar, deli station, grill items, homemade soups and entrees, a daily specialty bar, hot and cold beverages and various desserts. The cafeteria offers healthy meal options called Mindful Meals.
Noble Roman’s, located on the second floor near the dining area, offers pizza, breadsticks, oven-baked pasta, Italian-style subs, wraps, salads and soups. Noble Roman’s is open weekdays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and on weekends from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Call 301-896-2800 for information.
A gourmet coffee bar is available in the main lobby of the hospital. It is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and features flavored coffees, lattes, espresso, cappuccino, hot chocolate, hot teas and fruit smoothies. Food selections include croissants, scones and muffins and yogurt. (Summer hours may vary.)
Suburban Hospital offers a kosher menu upon request. Please inform your nurse, dietitian or diet office staff if you desire the kosher meal option.
Suburban Hospital offers its menu in Spanish; translation service is also available.
Nutrition counseling and education is available through registered dietitians. Inpatients can request a nutrition consult by speaking to their nurse. Outpatient nutrition counseling is available through Cardiac Rehab or Community Outreach/Well Works.
Vending machines are available 24 hours a day in areas adjacent to the cafeteria and the Emergency Department waiting room. Beverages, snacks and other food items are available.
The Suburban Hospital Gift Shop, located on the first floor by the main elevators, stocks a wide variety of items appropriate for patients and visitors, including toiletries, snacks, cards, books, magazines, flower arrangements and other unique gifts. The gift shop is open most weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and weekends noon to 4 p.m. The gift shop is operated by the Suburban Hospital Auxiliary for the benefit of the hospital.
For medical reasons, flowers and plants are not permitted in patient rooms in the Intensive Care Unit or Progressive Cardiac Care Unit. If you have questions about the appropriateness of a gift for a particular patient, please ask the nursing staff.

Flowers are available for purchase in our gift shop located on the first floor of the hospital. You can also order flower arrangements online.
