Core Maintenance

Across the landscape of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, there are more than 100 research cores operating under the management of their respective departments. It is crucial that efforts around management of these cores align with institutional resources and overall trends in the research community.

The following information is intended to provide core facility and administrative staff members with a framework for the administrative and financial operations of a core facility. When administered in a consistent manner, core facilities are able to maintain high levels of service, accessibility, stability, cost-effectiveness, quality control and compliance with federal regulations.

Each year, service center core facility managers are responsible for submitting a rate schedule, budget and written plan for resolving a surplus/deficit through the Divisional Business Office to the Office of Cost Analysis. See the resources below for more information:
