Johns Hopkins Point of Care Information Technology

The Johns Hopkins Point of Care Information Technology Center (POC-IT) develops electronic and print evidence-based clinical decision support guides to help health care professionals raise the standards of care and improve patient safety. The Guides are designed for real-time use at the bedside or in the exam room in both primary and specialty care clinical settings.

The Guides are used worldwide by physicians, nurses, pharmacists, students and other healthcare workers, free on the Web and for a small fee on all mobile technologies.

The POC-IT Center also develops country-specific Guides that integrate local guidelines with existing POC-IT information.

Developed and maintained by clinical experts at Johns Hopkins Medicine, the ABX Guide, the HIV Guide and the Diabetes Guide meet the ever urgent need of time-strapped clinicians by distilling complex material into need-to-know information that is easily accessible, rapidly viewed and frequently updated so only the most important information is viewed.

The POC-IT Center also integrates Continuing Medical Education material in the ABX and HIV Guides. These opportunities allow clinicians to further learn while acquiring CME credit in the context of actual patient care. Accredited by Johns Hopkins Office of CME, these education materials qualify for quarter-hour and one-hour credits.
