Nearly 300 persons were in attendance at the 2010 ISM Conference, which took place on Monday, May 10, 2010, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. The theme was "Emerging Themes in the Integration of Spirituality and Medicine." Renowned Hopkins Medical School faculty members were featured, including Dr. Ben Carson and Dr. Peter Pronovost.
Dr. Daniel Sulmasy, OFM, MD, PhD, a Franciscan Friar, physician, ethicist and author, was the featured plenary speaker. He holds the Sisters of Charity Chair in Ethics at St. Vincent's Hospital in Manhattan and serves as Professor of Medicine and Director of the Bioethics Institute of New York Medical College, Valhalla, New York.
The conference took place in the School of Medicine Pre-Clinical Teaching Building on the hospital campus. The capstone of the day was a reflection by former ISM planning committee member, Dr. Pat Fosarelli, and a reception marking the 60th Conference sponsored by the Institute of Spirituality and Medicine.
