Taking care of your hearing health is vital to everyone, no matter what their age. With the advent and rise of popular on-the-go technologies like iPods and other MP3 players, coupled with the noise pollution most of us experience in our daily lives, it is vital to protect your hearing.
- Preventive care includes wearing special ear molds or ear plugs, and protecting your hearing when in a noisy situation or workplace. You may also want to investigate alternatives to hearing aids.
- If you are 21 or older, it is a good idea to take a hearing test at least once while at your annual physical, even if you are not experiencing significant hearing difficulty. This test can then serve as a baseline hearing test for your audiologist or otolaryngologist, if you do suffer hearing loss in the future.
- If you do need a hearing aid, the audiologists at Hopkins Hearing have the experience and expertise to help find the right hearing aid or assistive listening device for your lifestyle and needs. We work with the companies that make and develop hearing technologies and have a wide array of hearing aids for you to choose from. Your audiologist will work closely with you on testing, fitting and fine tuning your hearing device.
