The Johns Hopkins Center for Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery brings together a team of board certified facial plastic surgeons committed to providing world class care to patients who desire facial cosmetic surgery, facial reconstruction and rehabilitation.

The Center’s multidisciplinary faculty features facial plastic surgeons, as well as colleagues in complementary surgical disciplines. We coordinate care with additional specialists depending upon the patient’s needs.

Facial Paralysis Patient Smiles Again

Left with facial paralysis following surgery to remove a brain tumor, Anthony struggled to blink, drink or smile. Follow Anthony’s journey as he has a temporalis tendon transfer and eye surgery performed by facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon Kofi Boahene to improve his quality of life.

Two Facial Reanimation Surgery Options

Kristy and Darlene, both facial paralysis patients, were presented with two surgical options. They could choose a temporalis tendon transfer or a gracilis free flap procedure to regain movement in their face. Each option is safe and routinely performed at Johns Hopkins. They chose different options and both learn to smile again.
