Hopkins HealthCare volunteers mentor students at a South Baltimore Boys and Girls Club.

Johns Hopkins HealthCare (JHHC) marketing specialist Sandra Sharpe tutors children at the O’Malley Boys and Girls Club in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Baltimore. Sharpe and several dozen of her colleagues volunteer regularly at the club, which serves at-risk children and teens in South Baltimore. The JHHC volunteers provide tutoring and mentoring to club members and help them with homework.

“Tutoring children is something I enjoy,” Sharpe says. “These kids are bursting with energy and we have to find creative ways to keep them focused on their homework. Their energy makes the experience rewarding.”
