Research Areas

The division of Pediatric Neurosurgery is active in all aspects of clinical and basic science research.

Our clinical research is focused on outcome and quality improvement in the management of

  • hydrocephalus
  • craniosynostosis
  • achondroplasia
  • epilepsy
  • tumors

Our basic science research involves the development of models to simulate childhood brainstem and spinal cord tumors. The Johns Hopkins division of pediatric neurosurgery is the first in the world to create these models. Our goal is find less invasive ways to treat or cure these “almost” inoperable tumors.
