The Johns Hopkins Hospital Neuroscience Nursing Department is comprised of five Neurology and Neurosurgery practice environments:
- 24-bed Critical Care Unit (NCCU)
- 6-bed Brain Rescue Unit (BRU)
- 26-bed Acute Adult Inpatient Unit (Zayed 12 West)
- 6-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU)
- 26-bed Acute Adult Inpatient Unit (Zayed 12 East)
Nurses practice with autonomy and are responsible for the care of patients with such diagnoses as:
- Brain tumors
- Aneurysms
- Degenerative spine disease
- Epilepsy
- Cerebrovascular disease
