While in the operating room, we use the microelectrode recording (MER) to better define our target. One way is through microstimulation that can show tremor when at target.
If we are too close to sensory pathways during stimulation, you may feel tingling in a part of your body at a very low threshold, or have a visual phenomenon. If we are too close to motor pathways during stimulation, you may experience muscle contractions on one side of your body.
