Support Groups

Brain Tumor Education Group

Patients with brain tumors and their caregivers are welcome at the Brain Tumor Education Group, which meets the first Tuesday of every month from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Each meeting features a guest speaker. Speakers provide a wide range of educational topics related to brain tumors, tumor therapies and side effects.

Examples include:

  • Surgical decision making
  • Medical treatments
  • Nutrition
  • Rehabilitation
  • Cognitive impairment

Light refreshments are served.

Location

New meeting location starting January 7, 2014:
The Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center – Weinberg Building, Suite 1210, Room 1220 (first floor) near the coffee shop.

HopeWELL Cancer Support

HopeWELL Cancer Support is for people diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor as well as their caregivers. It meets the second and fourth Monday of each month from 7 - 8:30 p.m. For more information, call 410-832-2719.


Other Support Groups

The Living With Cancer Resource Program and the Department of Oncology Social Work can provide information about other support groups for patients with brain tumors and their caregivers. For more information, call 410-955-8934.
