David Chesler, MD, PhD

Dr. David Chesler

Research Fellow

Dr. David Chesler joined Dr. Quiñones-Hinojosa’s lab in April of 2010 as an NIH-funded post-doctoral fellow in neurooncology.  Dr. Chesler received his PhD in neuroimmunology from New York University in 2002 and his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2006.  In addition to being a post-doctoral researcher in the Brain Tumor Stem Cell Laboratory, he is a Resident in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

His clinical interests include neuro-oncology and pediatric neurosurgery.

Dr. Chesler’s research focuses on developing techniques, using adipocyte-derived mesenchymal stem cells, to therapeutically target stem cell populations in glioblastoma.  Additionally, he is investigating mechanisms involved in mesenchymal stem cell tropism towards glioblastoma.
