Application Process

All interested applicants will submit applications through the NRMP associated application service, ERAS, for the match.  Applications will be accepted September 15 - October 31.

Our program has 3 residents per year.  Two are "categorical" (combined with General Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins) and one is "advanced" (2 years of General Pediatrics elsewhere).  Many of our "advanced" matched residents train in Baltimore at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and University of Maryland, but that is not required.  We accept foreign medical graduates, pediatric residents, and pediatricians due to this flexibility.  We are are accepting applications for the 2018 class, but also have a single unexpected opening ("reserve") for 2016 - contact Dr. Kossoff if you are interested.

We anticipate contacting prospective candidates regarding interviews by early October.   Around this time, we strongly urge you to check both e-mail and telephone machines daily for messages regarding interviews, however, our primary method of notification regarding selection for interviews will be via e-mail messages.

Interviews with Pediatric Neurology Faculty will be conducted on Thursday afternoons, starting with an introductory lecture by the Directors at 11 am and lunch with the current residents at 12 noon.   In conjunction with the Adult Neurology applicants, you are invited to dinner with our residents Wednesday evening.  Interviews for the 2 categorical positions will be arranged by our program administrator (Ms. Sandy Vieyra) to coincide with General Pediatrics, however you must apply to their program separately to be considered.  Pediatrics interviews are Fridays (listed below as the second date of two):

Our interview dates are:

  • November   12-13, 2015
  • November   19-20, 2015
  • December       3-4, 2015
  • December 10, 2015- interviews for reserved 2016 spot only (no general peds interviews)
  • December 17 - 18, 2015

Arrangements for interviews outside of the scheduled dates may be negotiated, but our preference is that you participate in the scheduled dates for a better overall experience.  We encourage applicants looking as well at our "advanced" position to consider contacting Sinai Hospital and/or University of Maryland - many interview on the preceding Wednesday for a 3-day interview experience.
