Only students from medical schools with exchange programs with the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine are eligible to apply for a Clinical Elective in Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins. The application process must be coordinated through the Johns Hopkins Registrar's Office. If you are an eligible student, the required application forms can be obtained from this website: http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/som/students/policies/visitors.html
There you will find the Visiting Student Policy, and access to the forms listed below for your completion. These five forms are required in order to be considered for the visiting student rotation:
- Clinical Application
- Immunization Record Form
- HIPAA Compliance Training for Visiting Students
- Confidentiality Agreement for Students
- HIPAA Security Awareness and Agreement to Comply
Please e-mail the completed forms to: vismed@jhmi.edu.
Also required for your application are the following documents to be sent under separate cover to the Neurosurgery Medical Training Programs Administrator (Stacie Grant):
- An up to date Curriculum Vitae
- An up to date medical school transcript (in English or with English translation included)
- Two letters of recommendation from clinical faculty from your medical school.
Please ensure that the dates for which you apply are definite. Once accepted, date changes are difficult to accommodate and could result in rotation cancellation.
If you are accepted for a clinical elective, you will receive information about housing. You will be required to purchase health insurance through the Johns Hopkins University. Foreign or travel insurances are not acceptable.
Please understand that while Johns Hopkins is committed to teaching on a global scale, the number of international students we can accept for clinical electives is limited.
Please see the General Information webpage for more information.
