As primary care delivery continues to evolve, the ability to lead and work within an interdisciplinary team is crucial. The outpatient residency experience facilitates this as residents and nurse practitioner (NP) students learn to care for patients in the same clinic. Upper level MP residents serve as preceptors for nurse practitioner students. The residents and NP students share a common outpatient curriculum and clinic panel. This novel approach places MP residents and NP students in the same environment from the outset of training.
