Revealing how cells build organs

Andrew Ewald is an interdisciplinary cell and cancer biologist whose laboratory investigates how cells collectively drive changes in the structure and function of epithelial tissues. Andrew’s team works to understand how cell adhesion and polarity are modulated during postnatal morphogenesis; whether breast tumors recapitulate normal developmental motility programs during invasion and metastasis; and whether there is a common cellular and molecular program of breast cancer invasion, or whether different types of breast cancer utilize different invasive programs.
