When a local business supports Howard County General Hospital, everyone benefits. The business demonstrates charitable leadership and its dedication to the health and well-being of the community, while HCGH is provided with necessary resources to meet the health care needs of our growing community.
The Business to Business (B2B) Campaign was introduced to encourage the corporate community to become major supporters of the Hospital and the Campus Development Plan. Last September, HCGH Board of Trustee Chair and owner of Williamburg Homes, Chip Lundy, hosted a kick-off reception at the company’s model home in Clarksville. More than 75 business leaders and friends of the Hospital attended.
Guests Wayne and Dianna Wilhelm of Wilhelm Commercial Builders answered the call by making a first-time pledge to the Hospital in support of the Campus Development Plan.
“It’s important for us to give back to the community we live and work in,” says Dianna, senior vice president. “The Hospital is the centerpiece of the community, and we want to support that need.”
The Attman Family, founder and owner of Acme Paper and Supply Company, has been a Howard County-based business for 30 years. When invited to meet with Hospital President and CEO Vic Broccolino and tour the new facility, the company immediately committed to a generous five-year pledge.
“We chose to give to the Hospital because our family and Acme wanted to thank the institution for the important role it plays in Howard County,” says Steven Attman, vice president of Acme Paper and Supply Company. “The area has been so hospitable to us as a business and family, we are grateful to give back.”
HHF board chair, David Powell, is asking the local business community for pledges of $5,000–$10,000, payable over five years, a reasonable figure considering the impact of the Hospital to the quality of life of the community.
