The Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center has two full-service wig salons, including our own volunteer salon, which has been in continuous operation since our opening. Our salon is staffed by volunteer owners and professional hairstylists from some of the finest local salons. We offer a sizeable selection of moderately priced wigs and professional hair styling services designed specifically for your hair as it changes during and after cancer treatment. Appointments are required and can be made by calling (410) 740-5858. Additionally, we have a great selection of head scarves, sleep caps and all hats. Should you need help, we can shave your head, and teach you creative ways to tie and wear your scarves. Wigs and Hair Solutions is our second, privately-owned salon. This salon offers an extensive selection of premium and human hair wigs and personalized service by wig specialist Bonnie Grauer. Bonnie can custom fit, cut and color your wig to suit your style. In addition to our hair salons, we offer spa services to help you look and feel your best. Long time volunteer Lynn Shannon from Lynn’s Day Spa visits our Center regularly and will teach you special make-up and skin care skills, including how to create eyebrows, improve eyelashes and nurture your skin during and after your cancer treatment. Hand and foot massages are also available on site. Additional discounted services including full massage, facials, manicures and pedicures are available at her local spa.
The American Cancer Society offers its Look Good...Feel Better program at the Center to teach beauty techniques to cancer patients and help them manage the cosmetic side effects of cancer treatment.
