This one-day course is designed to prepare expectant couples for their labor and delivery. Terms, stages and phases of labor, medical interventions, recovery, changes to expect after the baby arrives, as well as medical and non-medical pain management (relaxation, breathing patterns and coach's involvement) will be covered. This course will teach you the skills needed to clear an airway obstruction, perform cardio- pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). This class is registered per person, not per couple. This class is designed to prepare parents for a successful breastfeeding experience. A lactation consultant provides practical information for moms who will remain at home or return to work.
