M. Dominique Ashen

Ashen, M. Dominique, CRNP, Ph.D. 

Nurse Practitioner Coordinator

Dominique Ashen is the Nurse Practitioner Coordinator for the Johns Hopkins Ciccarone Center for the Prevention of Heart Disease, Baltimore, Maryland. She has a joint appointment in the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing where she teaches nurse practitioner students. The focus of Dr. Ashen’s clinical practice is the primary and secondary prevention of coronary heart disease and related events through risk factor reduction using medication and lifestyle management. She is also working with the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation on a research study to prevent cardiovascular disease in firefighters.

Dr. Ashen received a Doctor of Philosophy in Physiology from the University of Maryland at Baltimore School of Medicine. She did her postdoctoral training at Johns Hopkins University in the molecular biology of cardiac ion channels.  She received her MSN (Adult Nurse Practitioner Program) from the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr. Ashen has been the co-author of numerous articles on different aspects of cardiovascular disease published in the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Archives of Internal Medicine, the American Journal of Physiology, the Journal of Hypertension, and others.
