More Information About the Levine Group

The Levine Group is a group practice staffed by Johns Hopkins Internal Medicine physicians who work together as a team. Each physician typically sees patients one half day per week, and dedicates the remainder of his/her time to teaching and performing cutting edge research in health care. Every patient has a personal physician in charge of his/her medical care. All doctors in the group are available to see each other’s patients when necessary for urgent issues. This model allows our physicians to fulfill the Johns Hopkins mission of research, teaching and patient care, while ensuring timely attention to the needs of our patients.

Prescription Refills

If you need a prescription refilled, ask your pharmacy to call or fax the request to our office. This is the most efficient way to manage refills.

You may also call our main telephone number and leave a message on the prescription line.
Please provide:

  • your full name and date of birth
  • your phone number
  • the medication name and dose
  • how you would like the prescription processed.

If you want the prescription sent to your pharmacy, please provide their phone and fax number. If you prefer written prescriptions, they can be mailed to you or picked up at the front desk weekdays 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.

Please remember that controlled substances (e.g. narcotics and some medications for anxiety or ADD) require a written prescription and cannot be called or faxed to a pharmacy.

We require at least 2 business days to refill medicines. Please remember to arrange for refills before you run out.

We may not be able to refill prescriptions if you have not completed scheduled appointments.

Billing Questions

For billing questions, please contact the Johns Hopkins Physician Billing Service at (410) 933-1200 or 1-800-657-0066. To avoid problems, please contact your insurance company in advance to determine your specific coverage and if you need a referral prior to being seen in our practice.

Referrals

If you need a referral to another provider, please call our office with the provider's name, specialty, fax number, and reason for referral. We require at least 2 business days to process referrals. Certain insurance plans require that the referral be processed well in advance of a specialist's visit.

Forms & Letters

You may bring forms or letter requests with you to an appointment or fax or mail them to us. Please indicate where your documents should be sent once completed. Remember to fill in any patient sections before you give us the form. Please allow at least 7 days for processing. There is a minimum fee of $10 for each form or letter that is not completed as part of your visit (higher for longer or more complicated forms).
