A critical complement to your scientificexpertise is the business knowledge and skill set needed to achieve success in areas such as funding research,clinical trials,financing a start-up business, and bringing new research to market. The Carey Business School's Business Matters for Scientists program is designed for research professionals, instructors, and students in the biotechnology, genomics, pharmaceuticals, iopharmaceuticals, medical devices, diagnostics, and related fields. Participants will gain the business skills to evaluate the commercial/market potential of scientific research and bring new developments to the appropriate markets quickly and efficiently.This six-day program, presented over two weekends in consecutivemonths, is structured along two learning modules designed to ensure that students acquire the business expertise and principles needed for industry success.

The Hopkins Business of Medicine Graduate Certificate Program gives physicians, other clinicians, and health care administrators the knowledge and skills to compete successfully in today's dynamic and complex health care environment. Understanding the business side of medicine is a key advantage for surviving this pivotal era. By learning and applying the concepts of business to the organization of care, physicians and other professionals can take a more active role in structuring and maintaining emerging systems. This program focuses on the business essentials of leadership, finance, and accounting that physicians and other professionals need to be successful in health care delivery.

The MBA in Medical Services Management was created and structured specifically for medical professionals, physicians, nurses, other clinicians, senior health care administrators, and medical practice managers. Participants gain the business tools and knowledge to understand and analyze the changing nature of todays complex medical delivery systems, plus the resources and savvy to anticipate and respond to those changes. This program builds on the skills learned in the HBOM Graduate Certificate, and provides in-depth knowledge of leadership, finance, quality improvement, negotiation, economics, strategy, and marketing.
