Dr. Edward Miller, Dean & CEO of JHM, and Dr Janice Clements, Vice Dean for Faculty,announce that Dr. Barbara Fivush, Professor of Pediatrics has been selected as the Director of the Office of Women in Science and Medicine who will report to the Vice Dean for Faculty.
Dr. Fivush has been the co-chair of the Women’s Leadership Council for over 5 years and has been responsible for major initiatives, including the Vision 2020 Forum last fall. Dr. Fivush will lead the School of Medicine efforts for achieving the goals of the JHU Vision 2020 report, with the mandate of increasing women in leadership throughout the university. Under her leadership, the office will also concentrate on faculty gender issues and the continued implementation of recommendations of the 2004 JHUSOM report of the Committee on Faculty Development and Gender. This new office will strive to eliminate gender issues and support the Vision 2020 goals of civility and respect for all members of the JHUSOM community.
