Dr. Buddy G. Kozen, Jr. is the Division of Special Ops EMS Fellow. He graduated from Boston University with a B.A. Degree in chemistry. He received his Medical Degree at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Kozen then did a transitional internship at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA. from 2000-2001. After which, he completed his Emergency Medicine Residency, at the Naval Medical Center in 2006.
Dr. Kozen’s career began as General Medical Officer for USS Nashville serving as department head and sole medical provider for 1200 Sailors and Marines afloat and ashore during Operations in Iraqi Freedom. He was promoted to Lieutenant Commander in 2004. He then continued his career as Staff Emergency Physician at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) as an academic clinician. Dr. Kozen was most recently the Acting Operational Medical Director for (NMCP) providing medical direction for NMCP/Branch Clinic and Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Fire and Emergency Services Emergent Response.
