Dr. Korley is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine. He joined the faculty in 2007 after completing his Chief Resident year at Northwestern. He was the inaugural recipient of the Johns Hopkins Robert E. Meyerhoff Endowed Professorship.
Dr. Korley’s reseach career goal is to improve the timeliness and the accuracy of emergency department evaluation for Acute Coronary Syndromes by translating novel discoveries in cardiac biomarkers from the bench to the bedside. His current work involves understanding the clinical implications of routine use of high sensitivity cardiac troponin assays in the emergency department. Additionally, his laboratory work focusses on improving the specificity of cardiac troponin assays for diagnosing acute MI by capitalizing on current understating of post-translational modifications of cardiac troponins (phosphorylation and degradation).
