Peter Fagan is associate professor in medical psychology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he was director of the Sexual Behaviors Consultation Unit from 1985 to 2004. He is also director of research at Johns Hopkins HealthCare LLC.
He began his work in managed care in 1994, when he was appointed director of clinical services, TRICARE/USFHP mental health and substance abuse at Johns Hopkins Bayview Physicians, P.A. In that role he developed the administrative databases and research operations for the behavioral health services program. He directed this program for ten years before moving to Johns Hopkins HealthCare where he assumed his present research duties.
Dr. Fagan’s research focus is on the integration of behavioral and medical care management services and the coordination of care of individuals with medical and behavioral disorders, especially among Medicaid recipients.
Dr. Fagan completed his undergraduate studies at St. Johns Seminary in Brighton, Massachusetts and received his masters in divinity degree from that institution in 1973. He also received a master of arts degree in education from the University of Notre Dame in 1973 and his doctoral degree in clinical psychology from George Washington University in 1984. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health during 2004–2005.
