Biography

Dr. Jamie Murphy is an assistant professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine and obstetrics and gynecology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her areas of clinical expertise include routine and high-risk obstetric anesthesiology and critical care OB anesthesia. Dr. Murphy also serves as the director of obstetric anesthesia.

Dr. Murphy received her undergraduate degree in kinesiology sciences, health and human performance from the University of Maryland and earned her M.D. from Drexel University. She completed her residency in anesthesiology and a fellowship in obstetric anesthesia at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Murphy joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2007.

Dr. Murphy's research interests include postpartum hemorrhage, postpartum analgesia and post-cesarean section pain management.

Dr. Murphy serves as a peer reviewer for The Journal of Maternal-Fetal and Neonatal Medicine and Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine and is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Society of Obstetric Anesthesiology and Perinatology. She received a Synergy Award from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine for her study titled "The Evaluation of Right Sided Heart Pathology and Right Ventricular Systolic Pressure in Pre-Eclamptic Patients with Severe Features."

Biography

Dr. Gillian R. Isaac is an assistant professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Dr. Isaac specializes in obstetric regional anesthesiology.

She earned her medical and doctoral degrees at the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine. She completed anesthesiology residencies at both New York Presbyterian Hospital and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Dr. Isaac is board certified in anesthesiology.

Biography

Dr. Karen Lindeman is an associate professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her areas of clinical expertise include anesthesiology. Dr. Lindeman is a member of the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Fetal Anesthesiology Division in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine.

Dr. Lindeman received her undergraduate degree in economics and natural science from the University of Pennsylvania. She earned her M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Health System School of Medicine. She completed her residency and fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Lindeman joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 1989.

Prior to completing her medical degree, Dr. Lindeman was an economist for the Energy Information Administration at the U.S. Department of Energy.

Dr. Lindeman served as the associate editor of Anesthesiology from 1994 to 2000.

Dr. Scott H. Mittman is an assistant professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His area of clinical expertise is anesthesiology.

Dr. Mittman received his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco. He completed his residency in anesthesiology and performed a fellowship in anesthesiology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

He is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Biography

Dr. Jean-Pierre Ouanes is an assistant professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His areas of clinical expertise include anesthesiology, obstetric anesthesiology, pain management and ultrasound.

He is the director of regional anesthesia at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Dr. Ouanes received his undergraduate degree in biology from Suffolk University and a M.S. with a concentration in health policy from Dartmouth College. He earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Ouanes completed a residency in anesthesiology at Albany Medical Center and performed fellowships in regional anesthesia and acute pain medicine and obstetric anesthesia at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Ouanes joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2010.

His research interests include novel immunosuppression protocols during composite tissue allotransplantation, postoperative delirium and anesthetic choice, total joint replacement, fragility fracture management, and regional anesthesia and acute pain medicine.

Dr. Ouanes is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Society of Obstetric Anesthesiology and Perinatology, and the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine.

Biography

Dr. Christopher Wu is a professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine and gynecology and obstetrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His areas of clinical expertise include anesthesiology.

Dr. Wu serves as the chief of the Division of Obstetric & Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine.

He received his undergraduate degree from Union College in New York. He earned his M.D. from Albany Medical College. He completed his residency at the University of Rochester. Dr. Wu joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 1999.

Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, Dr. Wu was an assistant professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Rochester Medical Center.

Dr. Wu’s research interests include the areas of acute and postoperative pain management, obstetric and regional anesthesia and analgesia, patient-oriented outcomes, outcomes research and evidence-based medicine. He studies the effect of regional anesthesia and analgesia on mortality, morbidity and patient-oriented outcomes.

Dr. Wu serves on the editorial boards of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine and the Clinical Journal of Pain. He is on the board of directors of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia. His teaching has been recognized with awards from the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, Johns Hopkins and the University of Rochester.
